Where to Begin
|
It amazes me how I've neglected this place for so long. There honestly aren't enough hours in the day for me to do what I need to do, as well as what I would like to do. Additionally, I've got Luke in overdrive with some more work to our house; we just refinished our office and the curtains and paint are on order for the dining room, and lastly for now, the repainting of Justin's room. It will then be over. My home improvement list shall finally be complete!
You may have seen the pictures, but we had a family gathering at the 4-H center in Front Royal last weekend with my Dad's family. The unfortunate part of the entire day was that it was spent without Justin and Luke. Jay had a football game that morning that Luke had to coach, then Luke had a football game that evening in which he had to play. There wasn't enough time in between the games to justify driving the hour and fifteen minute one way trip to only be able to visit with the family for 2.2 seconds before having to return home for Luke's game. Ryan and I had an absolute blast though, and I am pleasantly pleased with the photos that I took of the kiddos that afternoon.
Have I mentioned the fact that Amelia is a complete doll? She is walking now, and will be turning ONE! next Sunday. We will be spending the day in Richmond helping our little beauty celebrate her first year. Alice recently had her mom cut Amelia some bangs, and she looks like a completely different child. She is absolutely beautiful, and I am completely head-over-heels in love with her. Looking forward to her party next weekend, and seeing her excitement (I hope!) when she receives her gift from the boys.
Justin has been very enthusiastically growing his hair out since the summer. He loves the feel of his hair wisping around his head in the breeze, and the overall look of his chosen image, and not that I have chosen for him. His independence has grown strong, and he has grown so much in the last several months.
His hair was screaming for a trim earlier this week, when his bangs and sideburns had finally reached his naval. Okay, so I am exaggerating, but not by all that much. He stripped from his shirt and allowed me to trim him up, which left his hair just a leetle bit shorter than we had hoped for. You see, I'm a shaver. For as long as I have had my children, I have always maintained their tight cuts with a razor and countless numbers of guards. Well, not having trimmed L O N G hair before, I took the #8 guard to Jay's head, and JUST LIKE THAT, his hair was gone.
He voiced his concern while his back was to the mirror at all of the hair that was falling to the floor. It wasn't until he got out of the shower and looked in the mirror that screams of HOLY SHIT, MY COWLICK IS BACK echoed throughout my bathroom. He was devastated with the cut I had given him, and the fact that all of his months of mange had been removed. He's still incredibly handsome, though with shorter hair. I assured him it would grow back as quickly as it always does, and that it could possibly grow back even thicker.
He has since gotten used to it, and even pokes fun at his crazy little cowlick sticking up on his forehead. He's not happy about it, but he's getting over it. I must confess; it does look better longer, and I vow here and now to have it professionally trimmed in the future. He's such a handsome thing and I hate to take away the pride that he exudes with his very own personal style. Thank goodness he has good taste!
Ryan suffered a pretty rough fall at school last week, leaving his knee a scabby mess. It was more of a concrete burn from the sidewalk, but I honestly believe it has left a more abrasive mark on his body than if he had gouged out a large chunk of flesh. He hasn't missed a beat, and continues to race around leaving me fearful that he will fall once again and break his wound wide open. Shudder the thought.
Time has expired for me once again, and I have only a few minutes remaining before the end of the business day at 5pm and still with a few calls to make. Hoping this finds you all well, and wishing you a wonderful autumn weekend. We plan to visit the pumpkin patch and catch a whole lotta football and baseball this weekend. Go Sox! |
